TGIF Summer Basketball Academy

A note from The Game is Fair & TG Elite Founder Donny Guerinoni:

We are incredibly excited to enter our second year of our Summer Basketball Academy! One of the many roles that Division I college coaches take on is that of Camp Director. Having fond memories of my own childhood camp experience, I volunteered to take on that responsibility at each of my college coaching stops (Stanford, LSU, TCU, and Harvard). Whether it has been K-2, youth day camps, overnight camps, or “elite” prospect recruiting camps, we’ve done them all. Structuring each academy with age-appropriate instruction and activities, we will strive to provide the most rewarding, memorable and educational camp possible as we focus on developing passion, self-confidence and joy for both hoops and athletic activities in general. Ultimately, our goal is to make this the most fun basketball camp experience for your child and we hope you will join us for another GREAT summer!

Camp Structure

Although the timing of camp will remain the same for each Session, please note, our camp schedule (i.e. general activities, games) will be tailored to the appropriate age groups as necessary (e.g. K-3 vs. 6-8).

  • Grades K-3: Basketball will be the main emphasis for this age group, but we will incorporate several fun games and sports throughout the week (especially for our K-1 groups) as we aim to develop passion, self-confidence and joy for both hoops and athletic activities in general.
  • Grades 4-8: Our Academies for this age group will be mostly all hoops! We will place an emphasis on fundamentals, developmental drills, various live play scenarios (e.g. 1 on 1, 2 on 2, 3 on 3, 4 on 4 and 5 on 5) and how to play the game the right way on both ends of the floor. Instruction becomes more advanced for our older grades and will include guest speakers on topics such as nutrition and introductory strength and athletic performance training (from TG Elite Co-Founder and former Celtics strength Coach Brian Doo and his staff) for younger athletes. We will be sure to still have plenty of contests and fun games for all ages.

Academy Staff

In addition to having our primary program Coaches and Directors involved with every camp, each camp coaching staff member will be a mix of current and former college basketball players, current high school players for younger camps, and coaches from various levels (college, high school, etc.). Campers will also spend time with TG Elite co-founder, Brian Doo, and his athletic performance staff as part of their camp experience. We ensure a high coach-to-player ratio and will hold our staff to an Elite standard when it comes to energy, attention to detail and instruction. We guarantee to “BRING IT!”
